I first learned about Dropps Laundry Detergent about a month ago. I was instantly intrigued by the idea of this product because it offered zero-waste packaging and claimed to contain natural, plant-based ingredients.
Since I am always on the hunt for new ways to go zero waste, I decided to learn more about this product and give it a try.
Dropps Laundry Detergent Review

Why Do I Like This Product?
Well for starters, their ingredient list is short.
Many other laundry detergent pods are made with tons of harmful synthetic ingredients and contain dyes that add no extra value or cleaning strength to their product.
Dropps is committed to making sure their ingredients are safe, clean, and natural. In fact, Dropps is EPA Safer Choice Certified, which means that their products are safer for human health and the environment.
Their detergent is free from harmful ingredients such as chlorine, enzymes, and phosphates (which many people are sensitive to).
Dropps pods are also unscented which is perfect for anyone with sensitive skin like me.
However, if you do like some added scent to your clothes, I recommend trying their scented detergent made with natural essential oils such as lemon and eucalyptus.
Traditional laundry detergents are packaged in large plastic jugs and 70% of them are never even recycled. In turn, they end up in our landfills, oceans, and waterways for hundreds of years.
Dropps is trying to mitigate the plastic crisis by offering a better alternative.
Their pods are packaged in compostable, recyclable, and repulpable boxes that double as shipping containers!
How To Use Dropps Laundry Detergent Pods
- Place your laundry pod in the back of your washer BEFORE adding your clothes
- Add your clothes and start your machine
Pretty simple, right?
You can either choose to keep your pods in the box and reseal after each use, or you can immediately recycle your box and store the pods in a large glass container.
Before even using this laundry detergent, I was already in love with the product. But of course I had to see how they actually worked.
The Dropps website advises not to overload your washing machine since it can throw off the water to clothes ratio and cause the pod not to dissolve all the way, so I made sure to keep my load to a normal amount instead of stuffing in everything I have like I normally do (whoops).
I used the unscented pods so I definitely noticed that my clothes didn’t have that good smell it normally has. But they didn’t smell dirty either.
Although I expected my clothes not to have any scent, I think I would try the pods scented with essential oils next time.
